Further Proof That Children Don't Need Expensive Toys

After multiple trips to Petco, picking up toys from the dollar store, and even a neighbor who kindly left him a stuffed animal on our doorstep, Remi prefers playing with things that are not intended to be toys.

(If you're trying to figure out what he has in his mouth, it's the plastic lid of a Chinese takeout container. He's still on antibiotics for his kennel cough, so I cut and hid his pills in about a teaspoon of people food and served it to him on that lid.  When I didn't immediately take it away, that's what happened.)

Just found your blog and so happy I did. I love what you're all about and you have a way with words. I went to school in NOVA outside of DC and worked in DC for a year after, before moving up here to NYC.

Happy to be a new follower :)

I completely understand. My cats have a bunch of toys and we got them a couple more for Christmas. However, Ares has decided that the best toy in the history of the world is my hair tie that snapped in half last week. He carries it around with him, pounces on it, bats it around and yells at it.

Such a cutie! I love how he runs!

The most expensive toy is never as good as something that you need right now or something that was in the trash. One of my cats loves to play fetch with my hair ties. I came home from work and quickly realized he learned to get into the drawer where I keep them because the house was COVERED in hair ties. Just wait, they just get smarter and smarter...

YDW- Yep, he is sure is!

Mrs. Dr. Looze- Oh, thank you! I'm glad you found me too! I'll be reading back!

Cimorne- Haha, cute! The Lawyer's theory is that they can tell when something isn't supposed to be a toy and they like the thrill of having contraband!

Carolyn- Oh, goodness! Well, I'll be prepared. The other day I said to The Lawyer, "He's finally exploring the condo all by himself! I'm proud of him for not needing to follow me around" and he replied, "Oh, is that what you think? JUST WAIT." :)
