I didn't recognize his name, and I definitely didn't recognize his picture. Yet, his message--"Doctor school, nice."--suggested that we somehow knew each other. But, from where? College? Post-bacc program? Working?
Oh, no.
This man was the one who rode my bus in high school, played violin in the orchestra, and was a year ahead of me in school.
This same man is the also the one who let himself into my apartment tonight, leaving a cupcake and card on my kitchen counter. When I walked in and saw a light on, I immediately called his name. Realizing he wasn't there, I chastised myself for being stupid enough to leave lights on when I left this morning--some 15 hours earlier.
Then, I saw the card.

I called and was all, "The 2nd year?! WTF! Did I forget our anniversary!"
"No, it's not our anniversary," he replied. "It's the day that I sent you that first message."
