Well, Step 1 is over, you guys.
The adrenaline rush pushed me through the eight hour exam, the three hour drive to my mother's house afterwards, and the obligatory two hours of TV watching and talking to my mother. But, now?
I'm so, so sleepy.
The Lawyer's mom (who lives two blocks away) was super excited to see me (Aww) and made a cake for me (AWW!), but I just called her to tell her that I'm incapable of dragging myself anywhere else tonight. She said to sleep in and come over when I wake up tomorrow.
Little does she know that I'm totally going over there in my pajamas and eating cake for breakfast in her presence. We're past formalities at this point, AND they have coffee. (My mother doesn't because we're good Adventists or something.) No caffeine withdrawal for this MSIII!
Goodnight!

Congratulations!!!! You deserve all the cake and coffee and sleep you want. Enjoy!
Yay! Congratulations! You're news makes me so happy!
Congratulations!!!
(Also, I don't know how open your older MS colleagues have been - but let me tell you what. I felt awful after my exam, like I was sure I failed, and I was a failure, and etc. etc. etc. I lost sleep, and had more anxiety than pre-exam, and it was just bad news. BUT! I passed. Now I wish I had spent less time feeling wretched afterwards and more time celebrating. Since I am a blabbermouth, I talked about how I felt with everyone and a majority of people felt similarly - and they all passed, too. So...I HOPE you don't feel that way, because I wouldn't wish it on anyone. But in case you do...take heart. I'm sure you passed with flying colors! It's just the way the test makes many people feel.) (But again, I hope you are happy and stoked and confident and not going through what I did...)
CONGRATULATIONS!
Huge congrats! Hope you have some time off to rest now. Enjoy the forbidden coffee and cake.
Congrats!!!!!!!!!! Enjoy that cake & coffee in your pjs. You deserve it.
Also, be prepared that the exhaustion lasts a while along. There also may be a slight case of identity confusion as you to transition from studying all the time to normal life then to 3rd clerkships. Enjoy the huge accomplishment of being done though!!!!!
Wahoooooo!!!! So proud of you! Enjoy every slice of that cake!
Welcome to the other side Red! So proud of you!
I think just about everyone vividly remembers post-Step 1. For me, right after finishing, two 17 yr-old girls came up to me on the street and asked if I smoked weed. Apparently I looked that deliriously red-eyed or something.
And PJ-clad-cake-eating sounds wonderful. Again, many congrats.

Congrats! I remember when I finished my written exams for Ph.D. school -- everyone thought I would go out and party right after, but instead I slept for 5 hours!
Congratulations! Finishing the test and cake as well? I hate to say it, but it looks like you're having your cake and eating it too. :)
Strong work, RS!
Do you get a break now, or is it on to the next right away?
What rotation do you start with again?
CONGRATULATIONS! :) seriously, getting through that beast is SUCH an accomplishment, and I'm sure you did fabulously! Enjoy that coffee and cafe!
Congratulations!!
That's so sweet about your relationship with the Lawyer's mom.
Thank you everyone!!! You are all BEYOND sweet for commenting, Twittering, texting, etc! You make me smile!
Tess- My friends who have taken it warned about the post-exam anxiety, but when they got their scores, they ALL said they did better than their NBME practice exams. I think I'm still in shock and I know that it's one shot or you're out, so there's really no reason to lament about it now.
Physician Activist- UGH. I hope the exhaustion doesn't last TOO long! I had a decent break this summer and slept well before studying, so I hope it will be fine!
Miss Chevious- Love it!
OMDG- I start on Monday unfortunately, so I'm just lounging, manicuring, visit friends with babies, etc. before I fly back this weekend. I start with 4 weeks of Internal Med. at my university's hospital, then 4 weeks at the VA.
CM- I'm not sure my r/ship with his mom is super great or strong, but I do try to email and send photos to both sets of parents just so that they know what we're up to. Since the families don't know about this blog, that's the next best thing (but honestly, I basically type what I've posted on the blog into an email anyway). The Lawyer's ex-wife didn't like his parents, though, so she would never stay with them or go visit. His parents internalized that to mean that the ex-wife thought that they weren't good enough for her or her family. Since I'm the literal girl next door, they don't have to worry about not being "good enough" anymore and I'm also decently friendly, so I go over there to say hi, etc. I guess it's the little things!
Congrats! Can imagine how relieving it must be =)
Congratulations! Rest well and enjoy your breakfast.
Congrats!! HAVE FUN NOW! :)
Congratulations, Red!
This is a huge milestone. Enjoy it with your PJ's on and cake in hand :)
