Yes, this is an actual text message conversation between The Lawyer and I. And YES, I do text message during class. (Stop judging me.)
The worst part is that The Lawyer thought that "Melena" was a really pretty name, until he started dating a medical student who studies at his home, and forces medical knowledge upon him against his will.
Medical students ruin everything!

My arch nemesis at my old job was named Melena. Imagine my delight when I found out the meaning of the world in med school.
:-)
OMDG- Hahaha...that is PERFECT! Isn't it funny how things in life just work out nicely sometimes? :)
haha that's really funny...
apparently a couple years ago a mom heard the word "meconium" in the delivery room and named her kid that... i don't know which is worse!
C- Oh, goodness. Meconium is so much worse, I think! The Lawyer and I joke about how we're going to give our children ridiculous names, so that we can be "trendy." List toppers: Chondria, as in "mitochondria" and Vacuole.
And no, we have nothing better to do with our free time than to talk about nonsense.
I recently went to dinner with a group of medicine friends, and we spent a significant amount of time discussing melena. No wonder we have no outside friends.
SD- Listen, medicine is fascinating and we can't help it if outsiders find our conversations to be disgusting or disturbing! Don't worry...I'll find you a nice lawyer who can tolerate GI talk. I know for a fact that it's not just doctors who find poop stories interesting!
I totally thought it was a pretty name too and now all I have in my head is poop full of blood. EWWW.
DANG YOU SMARTY PANTS!
IA- Yup! I hope I don't offend any kind people named Melena who might be reading this blog, but melena = bloody poop. :(
hahaha. i love this. he's totally absorbing this information!
LL&L- Yes, he is! As expected, I'm learning nothing useful about law stuff and am not even clear on what his motion was for. :( Med. students ruin everything and are also SELFISH!!!
I had a posting (being an L&D RN that sees lots of inappropriate names!) on odd names....and surprisingly enough, Melena was one of the names.....one of my co-workers kids' names!!! And she was a nurse!!! It was a not-so-funny story,.....

You guys are so cute! I love reading your updates!
Don't worry, Red. I'm married to a brilliant lawyer and I still don't know what he's working on 90% of the time!
"Meconium Smith", nice ring to it, don't yo think?
CC- Oh. my. goodness! I can't wait to read that post...thank you for the link!
Pikl- Aww, thank you! Cute in the most boring way possible...lol!
Penelope- Maybe we can play the "Oh, what he's working on is confidential, so that's why I don't know" card? Hahaha.. In all seriousness, The Lawyer once told me that he always steers conversation back to what I'm doing because then he doesn't have to breach confidentiality on anything potentially secret. (And then I started forgetting to ask him about how work was going, in the general sense, because he was never talking about it!)
